Background
Transition Heriot-Watt (THW) is a project at Heriot Watt University (HWU), working with staff and students to support sustainability, carbon reduction and improved health and wellbeing. Based at the Edinburgh campus our projects are focused on energy, travel, procurement, food and food waste. THW is funded by the Scottish Government’s Climate Challenge Fund (CCF) until March 2015.
The role holder will assist the Head of Operational Procurement based within Procurement Services, to work on the Flexible Framework assessment for the University. The role involves co-ordinating and implementing actions required to increase compliance. Information on the Flexible Framework can be viewed at:

A key aspect of the role will be engaging with University staff and suppliers to raise awareness of sustainable procurement throughout the procurement cycle and the provision of staff training.
The Sustainable Procurement Officer reports to the Head of Operational Procurement, who will support and oversee the delivery of the Flexible Framework and associated activities at Heriot-Watt University.
Objective
The key objective of this role is ensuring that sustainable procurement is successfully embedded in relevant processes throughout HWU and that associated actions are carried out. The role will also aim to create increased awareness of the importance of sustainable procurement across the university.
