General Requirments:
Support Sustainable Practices by coordinating sustainability programs through implementation, program design and content research, as well as supporting communication and collaboration with other departments and partners. Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities: Coordinate sustainability programs including green practices, recycling, vermiculture, and community supported agriculture. Coordinate  interdepartmental initiatives including climate change, water conservation, and sustainable animal diets. Pro-actively investigate, implement and maintain new initiatives. Coordinate staff sustainability training and engagement including workshop facilitation, content development, event planning, and evaluation. Collect and maintain up-to-date information on Shedd sustainability initiatives and achievements. Create print, web and training materials for internal and external dissemination. Develop and foster strategic partnerships and relationships with colleagues in other institutions and organizations with a focus on sustainability. Participate in strategic planning, and assist with other projects as required, including aquarium
wide teams.

Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably with major in biology, environmental science, education or related field. Minimum three years experience in conservation, sustainability and/or education. Demonstrated ability to handle large workload in a fast-paced, high energy department.  Excellent written, oral and public communication skills. Excellent leadership qualities, self-starter, and organizational skills.  Diplomacy, sense of humor and positive attitude required. Awareness of current, local, national and international conservation issues and topics with ability to effectively and clearly communicate them to various audiences. Computer skills required, including Microsoft Office suite. Must be able to do moderate lifting to transport equipment and material to sites. Ability to work irregular hours including evenings and weekends. This position is a full time, regular position.
