Title: Sustainable policy team assistant internship at BIO Intelligence Service Application deadline: 10am CET on Monday 26th September 2011 Location: Paris (FR) Duration: 6 months Start date: as soon as possible BIO Intelligence Service (BIO) is a French environmental consultancy firm which works at the interface between science and policy. One of BIO’s main expertises is the development and evaluation of environmental policies at European and national level. Much of BIO’s project work thus involves working closely with EU institutions, national and regional governance in various Member States, industry, NGOs and academics. Role: An intern is required to support work in the areas of resource efficiency and sustainable consumption and production, with a focus on the food sector. BIO’s team is international and, while French would be an advantage, English is the working language. Specific tasks: - Data collection (through literature, web searches and phone interviews) - Database development - Contributing to writing and editing reports - Maintaining and updating the project’s website - Assisting with administration for events Skills required (essential): - Second degree or excellent first degree in an environmental subject - Demonstrated interest for EU policy issues, as well as for environmental issues at large - Excellent English writing and communication skills - Focus on quality and attention to detail - Fast learner and excellent desk-research skills - Enthusiastic, independent and flexible Additional skills and interests (preferable): - An interest in (and demonstrated knowledge of) natural resource management - An interest in (and demonstrated knowledge of) topics related to agriculture and/or the food sector - A first degree in a numerate subject, such as engineering - French writing and communication skills. Terms and conditions Compensation will depend on the circumstances of the final internship agreement, and will either be a fixed sum or will cover out of pocket expenses on submission of receipts.
