Contract Status: This is a maternity cover, temporary post. 

Keep Scotland Beautiful is an independent charity which takes action, campaigns and educates on a range of local, national and global environmental issues affecting quality of life. We’re helping to make Scotland clean and green, today and tomorrow. Keep Scotland Beautiful is the proud deliverer of government-led initiatives to promote sustainable living and reduce carbon use so that Scotland plays its part in tackling climate change. The Sustainable Scotland Network is one of these initiatives.

The Sustainable Scotland Network (SSN) is a highly respected sustainable development initiative, working with, and providing support to, professionals in local government and the wider public sector. Reporting to the Sustainability & Climate Change Manager and working closely with the SSN Coordinator, the Sustainable Development Officer (Knowledge Exchange & Communications) will play a key role in developing and delivering SSN’s knowledge exchange and communications services. This will involve events management, developing and maintaining SSN’s online presence, developing professional training resources and events, and producing newsletters, reports, case studies and other resources.

Applications are sought from candidates who feel that they have the necessary experience and qualifications to undertake this role. The ideal candidate will have experience of providing communications, knowledge exchange and networking services. Evidence of having researched and produced communications resources in relation to sustainable development, climate change and/or sustainable procurement is essential. Knowledge and understanding of local authority structures and other public sector organisations is also essential. An ability to develop and coordinate the use of online services such as websites and social media is also required.
