This company offers a range of multi-utility utility infrastructure and engineering project management services to a wide and varied client base including developers (housing, industrial & commercial, retail etc), housing associations local / regional government agencies, construction companies, land agents and project managers.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
This role is to set-up a new team providing sustainable development, low carbon and renewable energy consultancy services to a similar client base in order to advise on, assess, procure and manage the delivery of sustainable development and on-site renewable energy measures to enable our clients to meet their needs in delivering exemplar sustainable developments and in reducing the carbon footprint of these developments.
The successful candidate will have P&L responsibility for the new section as well as line management responsibilities for the new team. The ability to identify and obtain business development opportunities in addition to delivering them is key, as is the ability to represent the company in client and design team meetings.
The candidate should have prior experience in this field, and this should be demonstrable through relevant qualifications such as being an accredited assessor within the Code for Sustainable Homes. The candidate should also have direct experience of on-site renewable energy measures such as CHP, Ground Sourced
Heat Pumps etc. and delivering schemes with ESCO’s and also have good knowledge of relevant legislation.
The position will include ensuring Company conformance to quality assurance procedures, CDM and compliance with the Company Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety Standards (ISO 18001).
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Delivery of sustainable development, low carbon & renewable energy consultancy services / projects
• Provide consultancy services to clients in both the private and public sectors.
• Undertake appraisals and feasibility studies for low carbon energy systems and where necessary design and specification work.
• Act as a project manager, liaising with the client and project team to set the project scope and ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
• Assist in the development of innovative services and projects to generate new revenue
• Customer liaison and relationship management across allocated projects / account.
• Compliance and further development of the company Quality Standards (ISO 9001-2000)
• Active involvement in the development of future business
• Account management including responsibility for P&L / invoicing
• Development/presentation of relevant training / support initiatives
• Maintaining awareness of developments within the sustainable development / renewable energy marketplace and identifying opportunities for business development
• Representing the Company at client / design team meetings
• Providing company wide technical advice/support.
• Liaison with IT/Quality/Finance Departments where appropriate.
• Attending staff and selected client meetings
• Recruitment, Leadership & Line Management responsibilities
• Other relevant duties as required by Utility Services Director
KEY SKILLS
Strong communication skills, with the ability to present to key clients
Strong written communication skills, with the ability to write accurate reports/proposals/tender documents
Able to adopt an analytical approach to problem solving
Relevant technical qualification (degree in sustainable development/renewable energy or equivalent qualification/experience)
Able to organise and prioritise own workload and that of others to meet key deadlines
Able to remain calm and produce results under pressure
Strong leadership skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate team members
Post graduate business qualification or relevant experience
Knowledge of relevant IT systems/software
A minimum of three years relevant industry experience (sustainable development/renewable energy)
A minimum of three years relevant managerial/supervisory experience
Previous experience of strategic/business planning desirable but not essential
A full driving licence is essential for this post
FURTHER INFORMATION
There is a contributory pension scheme, company life assurance, childcare vouchers scheme, and 20 – 25 days holiday (in addition to bank holidays) per annum.  Standard hours of work are 37.5 per week, 8.30am – 5.00pm Monday to Friday.
