Background

Peterborough Environment City Trust’s mission is to create a cleaner, greener, healthier, Peterborough with a thriving green business sector. The charity works with businesses, local authorities, not-for-profit organisations and local residents to achieve this aim.

The Sustainable Cities Metabolism project is part of the Future Cities Demonstrator and RECOMMEND programmes, showcasing how innovation can drive economic growth, environmental sustainability and enhanced quality of life in Peterborough.

The Sustainable Cities Metabolism Strand will work in the defined Fengate business cluster to test demonstrator solutions, generating business collaboration for future sustainability, measuring impacts and developing an area wide master plan.

Objective

The purpose of the role is to lead a programme engaging businesses in the Sustainable Cities Metabolism strand - developing a Business Consortium in Fengate, engaging with 30 plus local businesses, collecting and collating data to identify opportunities and challenges and working with the businesses to test solutions on an individual and collaborative scale, resulting in improved economic resilience and increased environmental sustainability.
