Background:

Please note: due to funding requirements, this role is only open to recent graduates (graduating within the past three years). The Nottingham Energy Partnership (NEP) is a charity with a trading company NEP energy services Ltd (NEPes). NEP provides an independent body to drive forward the climate change agenda. We are a platform for climate change prevention partnerships, working across all sectors. The Formal Objectives of the Nottingham Energy Partnership are: To advance the education of the public about energy efficiency, including the alleviation of fuel poverty. The protection and preservation of the environment and public health, by means of education into the provision and use of energy in ways that reduce, or eliminate, harmful emissions, in doing so contribute to the creation of new jobs in the energy efficiency sector. From this we have two practical roles: • Acting as a platform for Climate Change limitation partnerships and projects, currently including:- The Nottingham and Broxtowe Warm Zones and The NHS Nottingham and NHS Nottinghamshire County Primary Care Trust, Carbon Reduction Programme (PCT CRP) • Providing Information, Advice and Consultancy to organisations, community groups and individuals on how best to manage and reduce their environmental impacts, particularly through carbon emissions, for example making use of renewable energy and energy efficiency in their properties. If necessary providing support through the process of purchase, grant application and installation. Since 1997 NEP has delivered significant pieces work for Local Authorities, NHS Trusts and the Department of Health, as well as a long history of working directly with housing associations, private householders and communities on energy, carbon and thus money saving projects. Our work with large organisations is either under service level agreement or increasingly as paid consultants. All income we make in our trading arm is derived from supporting organisations and households to reduce their carbon footprints and this income is reinvested into enabling us to further support the aims of the charity and enable us to deliver more energy and carbon savings.

Objective:

This post is primarily, though not exclusively, to work in developing and delivering NEPs consultancy, advisory and support services to organisations working to reduce their carbon emissions and environmental impacts. You will be a member of NEP’s sustainability services team. You will play an important role in the team, to ensure the smooth delivery of contracts for clients including NHS Trusts, Local Authorities and businesses. As the NEP sustainability services team will often be working on several contracts at once, with various elements shared across the team, there is a need for clear communication, superb organisation and excellent teamwork balanced with a pro-active and self-sufficient approach to work. The work is largely office based, requiring strong analytical, research and report writing skills, however as we are a small team, you may be expected to represent NEP in meetings, events, giving presentations and building and maintaining relationships with clients. You should have a broad interest in sustainability issues with an appreciation of legislative, financial, and social implications and an ability to apply this knowledge to your work. This particular post is part funded for the first year by the European Regional Development Fund. Due to the overall funding of this role, it is only open to recent graduates (within the past three years). NEP is a growing and dynamic organisation you will be expected to be flexible, creative and adaptable in the way you support the development of NEP sustainability services in securing and delivering work.

Benefits To Graduate

NEP is a great place to learn a huge amount very quickly; we are a small charity that achieves huge things. You will have an opportunity to contribute to how we develop as an organisation, as well as achieving outcomes with our clients at a local, regional and sometimes national level.
