Description

Our Environmental Managementgroup is dedicated to managing environmental issues professionally and proactively. Our staff of professionals includes specialists in marine biology, wetland science, wildlife biology, soil science, fisheries biology, botany, hydrogeology, hydrology, forestry, habitat and ecosystem restoration, permitting, GIS, and Information Management. We help our clients to identify and respond to opportunities and threats within constantly changing regulatory and corporate environments, through active engagement with the public, stakeholder groups, and governmental regulators. Our team members have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of projects that may include endangered species assessments, habitat restoration, wetland characterizations, and water resources management. We are seeking exceptionally talented and enthusiastic individuals with a keen interest in the natural sciences to join our team and advance their career.


Responsibilities:

 

Stantec Calgary's downtown (8th Avenue) office has an immediate opportunity for a Sustainability Planner.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Growing Stantec's sustainability practice in Alberta through internal and external marketing, business development and training.
  • Liaising with other  Stantec service lines  
  • Preparing and delivering presentations and training to Stantec service lines and clients
  • Managing projects throughout Western Canada, including project scope, budget and schedule control, client and sub-contractor interface,  deliverables, quality assurance and project teams
  • Leading, coaching, mentoring, and training  Sustainability staff
Qualifications:
  • Masters' degree in applicable discipline.
  • Minimum  five years experience, with at least  two years in consulting or related environment
  • Detailed understanding in two or more of the following areas:
    • Community sustainability and integrated planning
    • Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) 
    • Community Energy Planning
    • Public consultation
    • First nations and traditional knowledge
    • Socio-economic  assessment
    • Business planning  
  • Demonstrated business development ability and experience
  • Project management experience with projects exceeding $50,000 in value
  • Familiar with a variety of industrial, government and institutional environments
  • Experience in  interacting with clients in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-starter, able to work independently with minimal supervision and and manage diverse project teams
  • Excellent English communication skills (oral and written) essential
