Sustainability Director

We are looking for a Sustainability Director.

Job Purpose:

Lead, grow and develop the specialist sustainability team which provides specialist services related to sustainable building design to both external and internal clients.

Key Responsibilities:

-Establish and grow a dedicated team that provides specialist services for sustainable building design.

-Manage the financial performance of the specialist group and be responsible for ensuring financial targets are met.

-Manage costs within approved budgets.

-Meeting the needs of the clients in an effective and professional manner.

-Oversee the training and development of individuals employed within the skill group to support their career development and enhance performance of the group.

-Be responsible for the quality of the deliverables from the sustainability skill group.

-Liaising with sustainability skill groups in other regions to co-ordinate technical initiatives and share best practice.

-Implement initiatives with other skill groups to spread awareness of sustainability considerations and embed best practice into their core activities, especially in building services design. This will include conducting internal seminars.

-Remaining current with design trends, design software and construction techniques in sustainable design and the industry at large, in order to meet the existing and future needs of the organisation.

-Collaborating with the Technical Executive to co-ordinate technical initiatives.

-Providing technical advice and guidance to colleagues and external parties on practical solutions for a sustainable design.

-Liaison with the Group Sustainability Leader and interface with other Regional Sustainability leaders.

Skills:

-At least 10 years experience in Sustainability Initiatives from a reputable Engineering or Design and Construction Supervision Consultancy Firm.

-Comprehensive knowledge of issues related to sustainable design of buildings.

-Understanding of the principles, but preferably hands-on experience of computer thermal modelling, computational fluid dynamics, and daylight analysis.

-Familiar with conceptual design of building services systems (to ensure low energy usage).

-Must be able to work efficiently under stressful conditions.

-Strong communication skills.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from a reputable University
