Working for a specialist building services consultancy your role will be to provide advice and guidance on technical and behavioural energy management, low carbon strategies, policies and energy efficient equipment including renewables. The purpose of the role is to provide independently or under direction as appropriate a professional technical service encompassing feasibility studies, designing, specification, project management and commissioning. You will be expected to meet all requirements of a client and the aspirations of the practice and you will have management responsibility for Technicians and Cad Operators
The principal accountabilities are to maintain an up to date knowledge of new techniques and technologies by participating in conferences, attending Continual Professional Development sessions, reading technical in media etc.
JOB CONTEXT
- The job holder can be totally responsible for some jobs, obtaining assistance from colleagues,
manager and subordinate staff who provide a technical service to meet the jobs needs, e.g a lead
electrical will obtain mechanical skills from others within the Practice.
- Advising on low carbon strategy and techniques, renewable solutions and sustainable options for
reducing consumption within single buildings of varying nature to complete developments on site.
- Develop and present project design proposals to a client following the external brief and internal
discussions so that client requirements are met, acting as either lead internal consultant or as
member of a team.
- Prepare, ready for tender, specifications, designs, drawings, equipment schedules and contract
documentation.
- Issue in conjunction with the client, contract documentation to tender, adjudicate and recommend
appropriate contractor to meet project requirements.
- Establish and agree clear responsibility as lead internal consultant for the project. When acting as lead Consultant undertake all aspects of project management as defined by the
client in his letter of appointment.
- Familiarity with Part L of the Building Regulations.
- A knowledge of current energy and sustainability focused issues.
- A knowledge of renewable and energy requirements and commitments across the UK.
- On other jobs (which can run concurrently) the job holder may be providing the technical services
to others, e.g electrical services to a mechanical colleague.
- Understanding of energy modelling of buildings and sites.
- Identifying potential emission savings.
- Assisting end users to reduce energy consumption.
- Ensuring clients understand the costs and benefits connected with investment projects.
- Interact with other members of the Building Energy Performance Group, Design Team and external
clients at all levels.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Qualifications Degree educated (Building Services, Environmental or equivalent)
- Energy Performance Certified, Low Carbon Consultant (DEC, EPC, TM44)
- Understand and operate ISO9001 & 14001 process
