Our Upstream Sustainability Services team has over 15 years’ experience in helping clients to develop real estate sustainability strategies tailored to their business goals.

Role summary

The Upstream Sustainability Services team assists major commercial and residential property companies, institutional investors and occupiers to develop and implement effective sustainability and corporate responsibility strategies. The team work with their clients to create visions, policy, objectives, targets, benchmarks and to review progress, communicate with variety of internal and external stakeholders, and work towards best practice and innovation in the practical implementation of their strategies.

The team seeks a consultant or a senior consultant who will assist clients with reporting and communicating their sustainability strategies to a variety of external and internal audiences. We are looking for a candidate with both the skills and enthusiasm to make this happen.

Responsibilities

  • Advise and support clients to:
    • identify their material sustainability impacts
    • implement management strategies and innovative solutions to address these
    • communicate on their progress effectively with a wide range of stakeholders using multi-media campaigns
  • Take increasing responsibility for our services in the field of sustainability communications, with a particular focus on corporate reporting
  • Develop client relationships and deliver consultancy advice to clients on a wide range of sustainability topics (delivered via presentations, written reports and in face to face meetings)
  • Ensure familiarity with the breadth of Jones Lang LaSalle’s own Intellectual Property and sustainability services, and be prepared to adapt and improve this IP to deliver fresh, creative solutions for clients
  • Work under minimal supervision and take responsibility for the delivery of work to key clients
  • Plan and manage projects to ensure deadlines are realistic and met on time
  • Work in a collaborative manner with other staff within Jones Lang LaSalle, including Marketing, PR and in-house Creative Designers
  • Provide support to junior staff to enable the development of their consultancy and professional skills
  • You may be required to undertake other duties from time to time as we may reasonably require

Requirements

  • Strong academic qualifications including a degree and/or post-graduate qualification
  • Sound understanding and proven experience in:
    • sustainable development and corporate responsibility strategy development
    • stakeholder engagement
    • sustainability reporting and/or integrated reporting
    • sustainability communications
  • Excellent written communication and copywriting skills, with an ability to write in a variety of different styles and from different perspectives
  • Strong conceptual ideas for communicating sustainability to a variety of audiences
  • Ideally, excellent visual communications skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy, ideally in written, visual and numeric work
  • Ability to quickly assimilate varied and often technical detail, identifying and conveying the resulting key themes in coherent, robust, accessible messages
  • Good organisational skills, with practical experience of project planning, management and delivery of reporting projects
  • An ability to act confidently and assuredly with clients, with an ability to paint a picture for a client
  • Consultancy or in-house experience, ideally working with large private sector organisations
  • Experience in, or an ability to get up to speed with relevant sustainability reporting standards such as: GRI, UNPRI, and AA1000
  • Confidence and adaptability in using computers and software
