Primary Responsibilities
• Business development for SGS sustainability services; specifically environmental services for consumer products
• Participating in and managing consultancy projects
• Providing technical expertise on product environmental impacts and product eco-design
Reporting to
Global Key Account Manager
Specific responsibilities
• Promote SGS environmental services for products and supply chains internally and externally to increase business
• Coordination with SGS international sustainability network to ensure latest methodologies are understood and the UK capabilities are promoted
• Implement SGS product and supply chain solutions from the international team in UK operations to ensure projects are delivered systematically and profitably
• Technical support to sales team and internal operation team on execution of sustainability projects to assist developing business.
• Expert support to existing client projects on sustainability services
• Coordination of local team or international team to perform assignments
• Consulting in carbon footprint (organisation, products) for clients
• Consulting in product eco-design and life cycle analysis of different types of products for clients
• Use and application of various sustainability and LCA databases
• Participate in relevant conferences and share presentations
• Participate in working groups with the global sustainability network
• Keep up with competition and innovation

Experience

Essential
• Experience in an environmental field or in the consumer goods business sector with a proven track record in project or product management
• Specific experience in sustainable product design, or in sustainability consulting or industrial experience in one of the following areas:
- Global ecodesign
- Life cycle assessment/analysis (LCA) of consumer products.
- Carbon footprint (if yes, it is important that these people have an experience in the inventory/ accountability of GHG, not only on verification),
- Packaging and logistics (design, reduction, optimization)
- Energy & raw materials savings (ERMS)
• Experience of working under own initiative and in planning and prioritising workloads

Desirable
• Experience using Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) software
• Experience dealing in commercial relationships
• Effective interpersonal skills, able to develop good working relationships with people at all levels
Skills

Skills & Knowledge

Essential
• Technical expertise in one of the following product sectors: consumer electricals/electronics; textile products
• Knowledge of current UK consumer market issues, environmental standards and regulations

Desirable
• IT literate, competent in the use of MS Office applications, plus capable of learning bespoke SGS systems
• Flexible attitude and fast learner
• Willingness to travel within the UK
• A commitment to the sustainability cause

Qualifications

Essential
• Education to Degree level or equivalent
• Educational background in either electrical engineering or chemistry
• Post-graduate degree or equivalent in environmental science, or certificate in Life Cycle Analysis (LCA)
