Job description

We are looking for an experienced environmental and/or Sustainability manager who has a very keen interest in environmental issues with the drive and determination to help deliver government set targets and environmental initiatives for the agency.

You will be involved in changes that are happening in the country now with the unique opportunity to be involved, helping to make a positive difference for the future.

The role will see you taking on a variety of different tasks, from producing data management reports to writing communication plans to contract management. Whilst you will ensure that legal obligations are met we will encourage you to use your flare for innovation to find different ways of doing things.

There will be line management responsibilities with this role.

To be successful in this role we will expect you to be an environmental professional qualified to perform environmental audits and be willing to attain membership of a professional body. You will also be expected to evidence an Environmental Discipline Degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

- To ensure that the Agency meets government set targets and complies with legal and policy obligations.

- To monitor actual environmental numbers to ensure that the agency /business units are meeting the environmental targets and that areas of concern are highlighted, addressed and escalated to the PFI commercial forum where necessary and to support the senior environment manager in the development of strategies and policies in business units.

- To manage the production of all publically required reports, including the Agency’s Sustainability report. Ensuring that they are drafted in line with overarching strategy and accurately reflect the positive sustainable actions being undertaken by business units.

- Management of a certified Environmental Management System
- Developing relationships with stakeholders to identify business issues relating to environmental policies and the implementation of those solutions
- Producing management reports on progress against objectives, analysis of environmental information and data and the interpretation of that information using knowledge of your workplace
- Contract management, ensuring delivery against contractual obligations, providing value for money and driving environmental efficiencies.
