Description

Sustainability and Climate Change Officer

Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 (DOE) + benefits

Location: Stirling

Keep Scotland Beautiful (KSB) is the independent charity which campaigns, acts and educates on a range of local, national and global environmental issues which affect people’s quality of life. It is committed to making Scotland clean and green, today and tomorrow. KSB enables action on sustainable development, by helping organisations and communities reduce their carbon emissions and environmental impact so that Scotland plays its part in tackling climate change. The Sustainable Scotland Network (SSN) is one element of this work.

The SSN is a highly respected sustainable development initiative, working with, and providing support to, professionals in the public sector. SSN is supported by the Scottish Government and is playing a key role in Scotland’s efforts to address climate change. The Sustainability & Climate Change Officer will be joining the programme at a key stage in the evolution of public sector climate change reporting and action.

Reporting to the SSN Coordinator, the Sustainability & Climate Change Officer will provide a range of professional support services on sustainable development and climate change to public sector organisations. You will play a key role in developing and implementing the SSN work plan, with a major focus on: supporting public sector climate change reporting; analysing climate change reports and data; promoting awareness of climate change policy; and sharing good practice on public sector climate change action.

Applications are sought from candidates who feel that they have the necessary experience and qualifications to undertake this role. With good working knowledge and experience of carbon management and relevant reporting protocols, the ideal candidate will also have experience of developing and implementing climate change/carbon management policies, plans or projects. Experience of developing and providing professional capacity building services and working with local authorities, public sector bodies or similar organisations is also required. With experience of developing and supporting networks and partnerships, including providing advice and guidance, candidates will also have experience of developing and coordinating projects and programmes. The ability to undertake research, manage and analyse data, and produce reports is important; as is experience of public speaking, presenting and group facilitation.

For further information and an informal discussion about the role please contact George Tarvit, Sustainability & Climate Change Manager on 01786 471333.
