Background:

Bedford College is a Learning and Skills Sector leader in Sustainability with a demonstrable commitment to reducing its carbon footprint while supporting low carbon business and community developments. The College’s Centre for Sustainability leads, and contributes to, a wide range of internal and external projects focusing on sustainable business and community developments; embedding sustainability into the curricula; and reducing energy and waste within the College’s estates.

Objective:

To provide administrative and financial accounting support to the Sustainability Team within set timescales and to assist in the development and delivery of sustainability projects, including related stakeholder engagement activities. Special Requirements Responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and for raising any concerns Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children, young people and vulnerable adults Willingness continuously to update skills and knowledge Flexible approach to work and working times Willingness to travel to and work at all locations where we provide a service Awareness of health and safety requirements relevant to the job.

Outputs:

  1. To oversee smooth running of all functions of the Centre for Sustainability, including procurement.
  2. To ensure timely and accurate completion of all documents and financial records.
  3. To support, and contribute to, all project activity including research, development and delivery of sustainability initiatives.
  4. To help ensure that the Sustainability facilities and services are presented and delivered to a high standard.

Essential Selection Criteria:

  1. Candidates must be a graduate
  2. Experience of producing a variety of documents in correct business English, as well confident user of Office applications and experience of data analysis and making recommendations
  3. Confident user of Office applications
  4. Ability to prioritise own workload and juggle a range of tasks and deadlines effectively communicating changing priorities to those involved
  5. Ability to communicate effectively and confidently face to face, on the telephone and in writing, and to form and maintain good working relationships and influence people in all levels in the organisation
  6. Ability to track and collate information from various sources
  7. Ability to make a positive contribution to the team, and to assimilate course/project information and opportunities to provide accurate advice and information to customers
