Exciting opportunities have arisen within the newly formed Environmental Management Section of Environment, Transport and Planning. The following posts have arisen within the Sustainability and climate change Team-
SUSTAINABILITY AND CLIMATE CHANGE WASTE AND RECYCLING OFFICER (REF SCCWRO/LL) Grade 8 £25,220- £28,353 In addition to tackling climate change the County Council recognises the impacts its services have on both global and local environments and has made commitments in its Environmental Policy to reduce those impacts. The Sustainability and Climate Change Team provides a corporate lead and co-ordination for sustainable development, environmental policy and climate change matters. In addition it works in partnership with a wide range of others on these issues. The posts are varied and will play a fundamental part in the delivery of ambitious commitments and projects such as the corporate Environmental Policy, Carbon Management and Climate Change Initiatives, and a wide range of Environmental Projects. In the role of Sustainability and climate change Waste and Recycling Officer you will be required to promote, develop and deliver recycling services and waste minimisation and recycling campaigns across the County. You should have some experience in the supervision and instruction of contractors which will be required in connection with recycling streams at the Household Waste Recycling Centres. Reporting to the senior sustainability and climate change Officer, you are likely to have a degree or equivalent in an Environmental Science subject, and experience related to waste management. Successful candidates should have a proven track record in the delivery of environmental projects and an ability to communicate with a wide range of audiences. A background in and knowledge of sustainable development or environmental sciences will be required.
