Compassion in World Farming seeks to achieve the global abolition of factory farming and the adoption of agricultural systems which meet the welfare needs of farm animals in the belief that this will also benefit humanity and the environment.

We have a Supporter Engagement Officer internship available, offering the opportunity to obtain practical experience in applying supporter care, fundraising and communication skills in a unique campaigning environment.

The internship:

  • Minimum of three months, opportunities for extended stay if desired.
  • The intern works within the Supporter Engagement Team, gaining in-depth knowledge of various areas of animal welfare issues.
  • In addition to the involvement in supporter engagement activities such as answering supporter email, letter and telephone queries and thanking supporter gifts, you will be expected to work on a new project to audit the effectiveness of Compassion’s volunteer fundraising strategy
  • An essential part of the work is using your communications and customer service skills to engage with Compassion’s supporters, helping to build loyalty to Compassion and ultimately help build upon Compassion’s donor base.
  • The Assistant will be working within the Fundraising Department.
  • Hours of work are from 9.00am to 5.30pm from Monday – Thursday and 9.00am to 5.00pm on a Friday, although these times and days are flexible.

What we are looking for:

You must have completed a degree at undergraduate or post-graduate level, and have an interest in animal welfare. We also expect that you will have:

  • excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • a desire to assist others, which includes enjoying working within a team
  • a genuine interest in all aspects of animal welfare.
  • the ability to work as an individual and also as part of a team, with a reliable and conscientious attitude.
  • an empathy to the mission of Compassion in World Farming.
