Position Title: Summer Fundraising Auction Assistant Dates: June 1-August 31, 2011 The Summer Fundraising Auction Assistant position offers a 3-month opportunity to learn about the operations of a mid-size non-profit educational operation while gaining specific experience in the critical realm of fundraising. The Assistant will work directly with the Events Coordinator and Director of Development to plan and execute a major fundraising auction.
Responsible for (but not limited to):
- Help plan, set up, run, and clean up after fundraising auction event.
- Schedule and complete auction donation pick-ups. Line up help if needed.
- Sort, price, and label/sticker items as they come in. Maintain organization of items at two storage locations.
- Help sell donated items in advance as needed.
- Enter donations into auction database (Auction Maestro Pro).
- Enter donor information into donor database (Raiser’s Edge).
- Keep hard copies of donated items sorted alphabetically by business or person in 3 ring binders
- Prepare thank you letters.
- Prepare displays for silent and live auction items.
- Help train and oversee volunteers for day of auction.
- Assist with item solicitations as needed.
- Print bid cards and gift certificates.
- Other duties as assigned.
Compensation:
- $11/hr (40 hours/week).
- Rental housing available in a shared, on-campus, dorm-style room with bath; meals available in exchange for occasionally “hosting” meals in dining lodge.
- Cell phone provided for business use.
- Use of bicycle available for summer
Qualifications:
- Physically fit with the ability to lift heavy objects (furniture).
- Detail oriented.
- Self-motivated, reliable, organized.
- Able to represent organization to donors in a friendly, professional manner.
- Familiar with computer database programs and/or willing to learn to use new software systems.
- Comfortable driving small 16’ moving truck (or willing to learn).
- Clean driving record
- Background check and drug testing will be completed prior to starting work
