Student Worker EVOC (f/m)

The position 

• Extend and program the Evolutions of Commitment (EVOC) model under the guidance of a modeling expert. EVOC is an internal tool for effort sharing calculations we have developed and are now moving to another platform. Your task will be to support this move.
• Content of EVOC: EVOC contains emissions of countries and sectors, greenhouse gas emission limits under different equity principles, emission mitigation potential and associated costs.
• Current structure of EVOC: Based on VBA, OLAP SQL Server 2000 and Excel 2003 user interface
• Future structure of EVOC: Based on cloud PostgreSQL database solution together with R studio with Excel 2010 user interface
• Your main task will be to support the move from the old structure to the new one. This includes mainly the      programming of algorithms (port VBA code to R Studio) as well as their documentation, support in setting up the structure. Furthermore you may be asked to do some data collecting, importing and processing, as well as      analyzing and documenting of results.

Your profile

If you are enthusiastic about the job described above and you meet the following criteria, we are happy to meet you! 

• Database and programming knowledge of PostgreSQL, VBA, and R
• Knowledge of MATLAB and OLAP SQL server of advantage
• Basic knowledge Amazon EC2 cloud services of advantage
• Interest in climate change and sustainable energy is of advantage
• Experience in working in teams is of advantage
• Good knowledge and command of oral and written English as you will be working with an international team.  
• Analytical skills in finding proactive solution, especially for programming
