· £17,485 per annum plus 2% pension option

Scope
The Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) demonstrates ecologically sustainable methods and technology to the public from its 40-acre site in the hills of West Wales. It aims to inspire, inform and enable society to move towards a more sustainable future. The Centre is managed along cooperative principles.
The residential courses department currently has 7 administrative staff - the Course Director (full time), Short Course Coordinator (full time), Course Technician (full time), Student Support Officer MSc AEES (full time), Student Support Officer MSc REBE (full time), Assistant Student Support Officer (full time), Events Manager (full time) and cleaner (part time). There is a full residential programme running throughout the year generating an income of approximately £2m. The CAT Graduate School of the Environment runs a series of postgraduate courses and employs over 30 academic staff and 5 Administrators.
This is a full time, 5-day week (40 hours) post based in the Course Office at CAT. It will involve working occasional weekends and evenings on a rota basis. The bulk of the work will be the administration of the MSc Architecture: Advanced Energy and Environmental Studies course run in conjunction with the University of East London. (UEL) The Department is currently in an exciting expansion phase. A new £6m educational complex - The Wales Institute for Sustainable Education (WISE) is due to open in 2010.
ResponsibilitiesTo be responsible for the administration of the MSc Architecture: Advanced Environmental and Energy Studies and the Professional Diploma in Architecture.
Duties include:- · To work with the Assistant Student Support Officer to ensure the smooth running of the programmes · Answering telephone, postal and email enquiries from potential and current students and staff · Responsibility for routine course administration · Responsibility for maintaining the MSc AEES and Professional Diploma databases. · Liaising with potential students and preparing for enrolment · Enrolling students, including liaison with the CAT Student Finance Clerk and the Course Administrator at the UEL · Reporting to UEL as required · Attend meetings at UEL as required · Taking bookings for modules and preparing accommodation lists · Preparing rooms and trouble shooting during the modules · Liaison with the teaching staff and the Programme Leader · Assisting with marketing of the MSc AEES and contributing to the maintenance and development of the Graduate School web site · To liaise with the MSc REBE Course Administrator and MSc AEES Distance Learning Student Support Officer and act as a back up · Assisting with compliance with Health and Safety regulations · Other duties as required by the Course Director
