What we need: An enthusiastic, diplomatic, coordinator who can support a clear, cogent strategy that gets high school students to take action on climate change. The program coordinator supports ACE educators working throughout the country to:

  • Implement carbon-cutting and awareness projects at schools and in their communities.
  • Enhance development and implementation of mind-blowing leadership trainings.
  • Track results and fine-tune programs for constant improvement.

You’ll work in the nerve center of a decentralized national organization, to coordinate and support project and program work across ten regions nationwide. You are clear and consistent with your communications, have confidence from a diversity of work/project-base learning experience, comfortable asking challenging questions, have a passion for affecting and measuring change, and a track record of identifying and implementing solutions that work.

Some problems you might face:

  • We have four leadership trainings this week in LA, DC, Chicago and Colorado. Our Colorado educator is sick; the guest-speaker in New York just cancelled; and we only have four students that RSVP’d in LA. We need your help?
  • Action Teams across the country need help to take their energy audit projects to the next level. Who are you going to call?
  • Educator teams in the field need to better incentivize students to tell us about their projects and how to do it. Ideas?

Sound like fun? Then we want you!

Major areas where we need you to perform:

  • Support implementation of a national strategy to motivate students to complete carbon-cutting projects and tell their schools and communities about it.
  • Support refinement, evaluation, and implementation of leadership trainings; including simplifying program in order to scale across regions.
  • Monitor and evaluate results from the field using Salesforce.com and communications with remote staff to support/spread/enhance success strategies across all regions.
  • Troubleshoot a myriad of logistical and technical problems.
  • Recruit people/organizations outside of ACE to get excited about what we do and get buy-in from them to help.
  • Getting it all out the door, painlessly and error-free.

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years workforce/project-based learning experience.
  • Education/instructional experience – ideally some experience with high school age demographic.
  • Proven track record of problem solving and/or developing creative solutions.
  • Research and idea/project development experience.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. We have a lot of moving parts—you’ll need to make your point clear, concise, and interesting to get your job done.
  • Standard PC/Mac/Microsoft/Google Apps fluency.
  • Team smarts and good with diverse set of personalities. We’ve got 20 educators working remotely nationwide, you’ll need to earn their trust and collaborate with the right remote teams to achieve your goals.
  • Proactivity. Ask challenging questions. Implement creative solutions. Because the same old ain’t good enough.
  • Sense of humor. It’s so hot right now.

Desired Skills:

  • Background in leadership training and development
  • Experience and working knowledge of customer relationship management software - Salesforce.com.

A little about us:

The national leader in high school climate education, ACE delivers award-winning multimedia assemblies on climate science and solutions to high schools nationwide, with more than 830,000 high school students served in two years. After the assembly, we help students kickstart Action Teams to take on carbon-cutting projects, anything from starting a recycling club to energy retrofits at their school.

We’re a young, dynamic nonprofit organization off to the races on making a complex subject relevant, interesting and fun. We’re data-centric and tech-savvy, nimble and creative, passionate and results-oriented. We have a resident Fun Team and an impressive professional development budget.

We want to help great people get greater—and make ACE terrific. More at http://acespace.org.

To apply:

  • A resume that reflects diverse work/project-based learning experience and results.
  • A short cover letter to ethan.burke@climateeducation.org.
  • A short creative writing piece (1 page max) on how you solved one of the problems mentioned above.

Please include a salary range so we don’t waste your time.
