ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Stream Field Technician will participate in, and sometimes lead, on the ground restoration activities.  This may include one or more of the following functions:

•  Bioengineering, or installation and maintenance of vegetation and erosion control techniques necessary for stream restoration success.
•  Stream surveying, data entry, and analysis.
•  Coordination and supervision of volunteers.
•  Maintenance of tools and equipment
•  Preparation of materials for field work.

S/he may also travel as part of a crew responsible for preparation and implementation of prescribed fire at various nature preserves and management areas as needed.  These duties will require long and irregular hours, cooking and sleeping under rustic conditions with physical labor under adverse conditions.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
•  High school diploma, and 1 year’s training in science-related field or related experience in land management. Bachelor degree preferred. 
•  Experience recognizing plant and animal species.
•  Experience operating various types of equipment.
•  Experience performing physical work.
ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION
This position requires a valid driver's license and compliance with the Conservancy's Auto Safety Program.  Employees may not drive Conservancy-owned/leased vehicles, rental cars, or personal vehicles on behalf of the Conservancy if considered "high risk drivers."  Please see further details in the Auto Safety Program document available at www.nature.org/careers. 

Employment in this position will be contingent upon completion of a Vehicle Use Agreement, which may include a review of the prospective employee's motor vehicle record.

The Stream Field Technician may work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain, and under physically demanding circumstances. These conditions:
•  require considerable physical exertion and/or muscular strain
•  present frequent possibility of injury
•  require long hours in isolated settings
•  require the ability to live with and work with a variety of people in stressful conditions
•  require a willingness and ability to cook and sleep outdoors in all weather conditions for up to ten days at a time. Must provide own sleeping bag and tent.
