POSITION SUMMARY The Nature Conservancy’s Ohio Stream and Wetland In-Lieu Fee Mitigation Program (OMP) utilizes mitigation funds to locate and develop restoration projects in the state of Ohio that maximize success and conservation outcomes for the State’s dynamic watersheds. The Stream and Wetland Mitigation Coordinator provides support to the OMP by working with conservation partners to identify and evaluate potential restoration sites, writing restoration concept plans, and developing, managing and advancing restoration projects throughout Ohio to meet the mitigation goals of the OMP. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The Stream and Wetland Mitigation Coordinator provides technical support to the OMP and carries out the identification, evaluation, negotiation, and approval of potential restoration sites for the program. The position’s primary responsibilities are outreach to conservation partners and others regarding the OMP’s needs for restoration sites, research of potential sites, evaluation of nominated properties for their feasibility and mitigation potential, negotiation with landowners regarding the permanent protection of the properties, and the development of preliminary restoration concept plans for the sites. This position is responsible for understanding and implementing OMP procedures and objectives, collaborates with TNC staff in identifying and assessing potential wetland and stream restoration sites that are appropriate as OMP projects. The Stream and Wetland Mitigation Coordinator works under the supervision of the Mitigation Program Manager, and collaboratively with other OMP staff, TNC conservation staff, staff from the Corps, Ohio EPA and other organizations, and individuals as needed in carrying out duties. AUTO SAFETY POLICY This position requires a valid driver's license and compliance with the Conservancy's Auto Safety Program. Employees may not drive Conservancy-owned/leased vehicles, rental cars, or personal vehicles on behalf of the Conservancy if considered "high risk drivers."
