Overview: Junior Research Analyst – Climate Change Special Initiative
McKinsey & Company Inc., a leading international management consulting firm, is currently recruiting a Junior Research/Research Analyst for its Climate Change Special Initiative (CCSI) located in McKinsey’s Chicago office.

Our research professionals support McKinsey engagements and knowledge building efforts by providing services that range from the delivery of basic facts to developing industry or functional insight, and providing expert “thought partnership” on key issues.

If you fit this profile and are available immediately to start work in Chicago, we invite you to apply for a Junior Research/Research Analyst position with McKinsey’s Climate Change Special Initiative

Detailed Description: We are seeking a creative and energetic professional with strong analytical, communications and organizational skills to be part of our global Climate Change Research and Information (“R&I”) team. This individual will work with McKinsey consultants and leverage guidance from research colleagues to:
· Articulate, scope, and prioritize research needs, and identify and gather relevant company, industry, and economic information using a broad spectrum of appropriate sources
· Provide synthesis, insight, and practical implications within tight deadlines, via end products in the form of single exhibits, written summaries, basic fact packs, and spreadsheets
· Serve as a thought partner, leveraging internal and external networks, to engage in team problem solving, share evolving business trends and best practices, and contribute to knowledge creation initiatives
· Continue to build knowledge of issues impacting climate change, as well as to identify, review, and maintain information sources and databases

Desired Skills: We expect that you will also contribute to building the Climate Change Special Initiative by participating in the professional development of colleagues, helping to design and deliver training programs, and finding new ways to create innovative and distinctive services, as well as to enhance team spirit.
Please note that we require both local language and English language fluency for all positions in countries where English is not the native language.

Background/Training: The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and will possess the following:
· Outstanding academic record with a focus that relates to climate change. This may include, but is not limited to, environmental economics, policy, forestry, water, climate science, renewables or engineering. (Bachelor’s degree required/Master’s degree preferred)
· 1-3 years post-undergraduate work experience in climate change or a closely related “green” area including policy, environmental finance, biomass and forestry, sustainable corporate transformation, sustainable consumer demand, adaptation, mitigation, water and waste
· Strong interest in climate change
· Solid understanding of economic, financial, and general business concepts and terminology
· Experience in conducting business or academic research
· Comprehensive computer skills including database searching, power point, word processing, and spreadsheet analysis
· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
· Good people skills, team orientation, and professional attitude
· A high level of initiative
· Some travel involved (=10%), but not on a regular basis as this is not a consulting position
