THREE YEAR FULL TIME FIXED TERM APPOINTMENT WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF EXTENSION OR PERMANENCYThe Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC) is a small department with a major mission to power the country and protect the planet. In 2010, the Office of Carbon Capture and Storage (OCCS) was created to ensure that carbon capture and storage can become a cost competitive carbon abatement technology in the power generation and industrial sectors in the 2020’s. Now we need an experienced and credible Delivery Director to manage and deliver a key part of this £multi-billion programme – the CCS Commercialisation Programme. This high-profile role offers great variety and an extremely challenging agenda. Among many other tasks, you will need to identify the right commercial arrangements to encourage participation in the programme, manage the significant risks, deal with ambiguity and deliver solutions that provide value for money and affordability. Leading the commercial negotiations, you will shape the market engagement and lead the selection, negotiation, development and contract management of this £multi-billion programme. You will need a strong and proven track record of delivering complex commercial projects. A skilled influencer and negotiator, you will have the strength of character and resilience to handle a large and varied stakeholder community, advising and building confidence with Ministers, senior Whitehall Officials and influential industry partners.
