Description

Background:
The British Embassy is looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Strategic Campaigns Officer to join the Embassy’s Communication Team to provide strategic support and public relations skills for its climate change communication strategy. This is a full-time position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan and manage our public diplomacy and communication activities in support of the Embassy’s climate change work.
Collaborate with stakeholders in London and with the UK’s network of Consulates across the US to co-ordinate strategic communications activity on climate change.
Execute strategic communication plans through: online activities, targeted email outreach, press releases, press outreach, and developing programmes and events.
Oversee and manage special projects, including activities with the Ambassador and his Deputy.
Minimum Qualifications/Experience:
A four-year degree and minimum of three experience in a communication or PR environment.
Experience of public affairs or government is preferred.
Ability to plan complex communications campaigns, with a strong attention to detail.
Strong communication skills, including in media handling and writing press releases and articles.
Excellent team-working and interpersonal skills, including experience of working with senior level officials or executives.
Proficiency skill in Microsoft Office Suite, media databases, internet programmes.
Under US State Department requirements, the Embassy may only employ, as non-diplomatic staff, persons who are US citizens, US Green Card holders or A Visa holders. If you hold a Visa other than an A Visa you are not currently eligible to work at the Embassy. All candidates will be subject to background checks and security clearance.
