The Organisation

Solutions for Our Climate (SFOC) is an independent policy research and advocacy group that aims to make emissions trajectories across Asia compatible with the Paris Agreement 1.5°C warming target. SFOC is led by legal, economic, financial and environmental experts with experience in energy and climate policy.  Since it was founded in 2016, SFOC has led strategic campaigns on coal power phase-out, renewables, and climate finance.

The Role

Based in Korea, or other international location, you will report to the CEO, and your work will pioneer a new global steel (hydrogen) program.  Your key deliverables will be to engage and influence Korean policymakers, international industry stakeholders and customers to accelerate the industry’s decarbonization. You will also:
  • Oversee and contribute to research on Korea’s decarbonization opportunities and policies
  • Develop five-year program objectives and refine campaign strategy and tactics
  • Coordinate events and messaging on Korea’s steel industry decarbonization
  • Build a network of international steel campaigning organizations and partners

Skills Required

You are an experienced leader; ideally you will have steel/hydrogen and/or related industry research experience and campaigning, advocacy and/or policy experience. Naturally you have a passion to address climate change. Other relevant experience will be considered. Additionally, you offer:
  • Strong research, strategy and the ability to communicate well with diverse audiences
  • Background in energy or climate preferred (not essential)
  • Collaborative and autonomous working style
  • Fluency in Korean and proficiency in English (essential)
