Staff Biologist Careers - Englewood, CO

CH2MHILL’s Denver, Colorado office has an opportunity for a Full Time Staff Biologist. In this position you will have the opportunity to play a role on all stages of siting and permitting of power and energy facilities, as well as support transportation and water projects. There may be a wide variety of project types that you will work on but the focus will likely be renewable and conventional energy generation, electric transmission, and pipelines. You will need to have experience in surveying for wildlife species and migratory birds as well as some familiarity with permitting. You will work as part of a team to evaluate project sites and conduct resource studies, develop permit applications, and complete regulatory requirements for projects including: environmental assessments and environmental impact statements; Threatened and Endangered Species assessments and Endangered Species Acts (ESA) Section 7 consultations; Clean Water Act Section 404 permits; and siting studies. There will be periodic travel to project locations to perform data collection or attend client or agency meetings.

You must have strong technical writing and oral communication skills, working knowledge and use of Microsoft Office software, ability to work in a team environment, and flexibility to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Additional Information:

  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
  • CH2M HILL will not sponsor an employment visa (e.g., H-1B visa, etc) to fill this position.
  • A demonstrated technical competence and 3 years experience in conducting biological surveys (including sensitive species surveys) and impact assessments in the western United States.
  • Project experience applicable to industrial siting and permitting or other environmental permitting projects.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Masters Degree in Environmental Science or Engineering, Biology, Ecology, or similar environmental discipline
  • We’d prefer someone with the basic qualifications that has 6 years experience in the permitting field in the western U.S.
  • Also, someone who has experience with any or most of the following:
  • National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements
  • USACE 404 wetland permitting, Clean Water Act
  • Experience in performing wetland delineations
  • Experience with state siting permitting processes
  • Experience with county permitting
  • Experience with ESA Section 7 or Section 10 processes
