Pandion is a leader in bat consulting services in the wind industry and is focused on innovative approaches and solutions. Pandion developed the patented ReBATTM acoustic monitoring system specifically for long-term unattended acoustic monitoring of bats. Pandion is on track to complete one of the first HCPs for Indiana bats at a wind energy facility. Pandion is also developing a bat and wind energy risk model for the DOE. Pandion is currently conducting a study to look at bat acoustic activity at the nacelle and mortality at an operating wind energy facility in the west.
The Bat Team at Pandion is looking for 1 or 2 additional bat biologists. These may be filled at the Staff Ecologist level or at the Senior Ecologist level. The start date is immediate.
Both positions require field experience with bats (e.g., acoustic monitoring, acoustic analysis, and designing and conducting bat surveys, including mist-netting, echolocation, mark-recapture, or telemetry studies). Candidates should have a solid background in wildlife ecology, sampling techniques, field data collection, data analysis, and report writing. Experience conducting ecological assessments and threatened and endangered species surveys, and familiarity with GIS is preferred. Candidates must have strong writing and interpersonal skills.
The staff position requires a Bachelor’s degree in wildlife biology (or equivalent) plus experience. The senior position requires a Master’s degree in wildlife biology (or equivalent) plus experience.
Both positions require frequent travel during the active season (March to October), mainly in the U.S. and Canada.
Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience. Position includes health and retirement benefits.
To become part of the Bat Team, see the complete job description and application instructions below. If you have any questions, please contact the Office Coordinator: Alexis Teran (352) 372-4747 x7022.?
