The Senior Manager of Sustainability and Strategy will join the small team of Home Office associates that provide corporate leadership for Wal-Mart’s continued efforts toward becoming a more sustainable company. The team manages internal and external stakeholders and works to operationalize sustainability to drive positive financial and environmental results. The Senior Manager reports to the Senior Director, International Sustainability and Strategy, who is responsible for advancing Wal-Mart’s sustainability leadership in its international markets. Wal-Mart operates more than 7,000 retail outlets in 16 markets around the world and has sales of more than US$340 billion. In addition, the company sources products from more than 50 countries.
The Senior Manager of Sustainability Strategy will develop strategies, guide and influence key stakeholders, and support initiatives in the company’s international markets related to achieving the Wal-Mart’s three sustainability goals: 1) to be supplied 100 percent by renewable energy; 2) to create zero waste; and 3) to sell products that sustain our natural resources and the environment.

The Senior Manager’s primary responsibilities will be to:
--Support the international markets where Wal-Mart operates in the development of strategies and business plans to achieve greater financial and environmental impact;
--Manage the measurement and reporting of international division sustainability initiatives, including financial and non-financial (for example, improved health, reduction in pollution) results of market sustainability projects;
--Develop and manage systems and communication channels for best practice sharing and create global leverage of the company’s sustainability efforts;
--Manage dynamic, global sustainability projects from beginning to end;
--Provide thought leadership to motivate merchants, operators, and other key leaders in the company to adopt sustainable but business-savvy initiatives;
--Build and lead teams of experts inside and outside of Wal-Mart to ensure successful execution of goals and key initiatives;
--Serve as a company resource to share the company’s sustainability initiatives with the international markets
--Provide or research information that will assist the international market sustainability leaders in meeting their goals; and
--Represent the company in external meetings and events.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:
--A bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, environmental engineering, business, international or other relevant field
--Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience in business, consulting, government, international organizations, non-profits or other relevant organizations
--Strong communication skills and a proven ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and colleagues
--Track record of working independently to solve problems and leverage internal and external resources
• Successful history of motivating and leading teams to reach a common goal
--Experience developing project plans, project management, and delivering projects on time and under budget
--Excellent written communication skills
--Excellent presentation skills and public speaking experience
--Strong IT skills including PPT, Excel, Word, databases

Preferred Requirements
--Advanced degree such as a masters in business administration, environmental science or international relations
--Experience in managing sustainability or environmental issues for a business, NGO, government or other relevant organization.
--Experience in the retail industry.
--Ability to speak a foreign language.
