Job Description:
To improve shareholder value by driving innovation and opening up new areas of competitiveness. This position is measured on improvements in the business in general and the sustainability strategy in particular through wider outreach to a variety of stakeholders which can provide critical, early information and early detection of emerging issues.

Job Responsibilities:
1. Provides overall direction for the Corporate Sustainability Department by analyzing business objectives and Customer needs; developing, communicating, building support for, and implementing business strategies, plans, and practices; analyzing costs and forecasts and incorporating them into business plans; determining and supporting resource requirements; evaluating operational processes; measuring outcomes to ensure desired results; identifying and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; promoting a Customer-focused environment; and demonstrating adaptability and sponsoring continuous learning.

2. Develops and implements strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce by diagnosing capability gaps; recruiting, selecting, and developing talent; supporting mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning; and leveraging the capabilities of new and existing talent.

3. Cultivates an environment where Associates respect and adhere to Company standards of integrity and ethics by integrating these values into all programs and practices; developing consequences for violations or non-compliance; and supporting the Open Door Policy.

4. Develops and leverages internal and external partnerships and networks to maximize the achievement of business goals by sponsoring and leading key community outreach and involvement initiatives; engaging key stakeholders in the development, execution, and evaluation of appropriate business plans and initiatives; and supporting Associate efforts in these areas.

5. Develops external stakeholder support for sustainability strategy by identifying and engaging external stakeholders; exploring thought of global sustainability leaders; developing communication vehicles (for example, holding meetings, developing and overseeing distribution of promotional materials); convening leaders for collaborative problem-solving; and securing support for critical initiatives.

6. Implements sustainability strategy by expanding the capability and outreach of the thirteen sustainable value networks designed to drive implementation of the sustainability initiatives to external stakeholders; orienting and informing stakeholders on value networks; recruiting for the networks; providing orientation and training; and facilitating engagement opportunities.

7. Drives the company’s ability to address societal challenges by creating and managing public- private partnerships; establishing local networks of non-governmental organizations (NGO5) and community leaders; and leveraging business relationships to aid in store performance and future store growth.

8. Oversees the allocation of foundation funds to the Sustainability Department by ensuring that foundation giving is aligned with sustainability objectives; providing strategic direction to the foundation; providing input on foundation decisions, measuring the amount of foundation funding; and following up with the foundation.

9. Provides strategic direction towards achieving Wal-Mart’s sustainability goals by reducing costs within operations and supply chain; embedding sustainability into the business through Associate practices; supporting creation of products that help Customers live better; and engaging outside leaders in creating sustainable business models.

You wll have:

Minimum Requirements:
1. 5 years management level experience in a corporate environment providing overall direction and driving large strategic initiative
2. 5 years managing large projects
3. Excellent written communication skills
4. Strong platform skills
5. Ability to build strong relationships and effectively influence others
6. Strong passion of sustainability
7. Some experience in driving sustainability efforts
8. Bachelors degree or equivalent experience

Preferred Requirements:
1. Master's degree
2. At least 10 years experience in a corporate environment
3. Director level experience
