Description

World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the world’s leading conservation organization, seeks a Senior Specialist, Hispanic Media Outreach, to join its Media & External Affairs team. Provides specialized journalism expertise to help achieve communications goals and objectives to reach US Hispanic audiences. Engage audiences through implementation of media and other outreach plans. Conducts research and analysis, organizes information, and produces communication content for varied communication channels.

 

  1. Identifies Hispanic media outlets, updates media lists, and helps develop and implement media outreach plans to establish or strengthen relationships with most relevant media representatives to place WWF stories, interviews with WWF’s experts, and implement any other media tactics to promote WWF’s conservation goals.
  2. Identifies, edits and produces communications materials in both Spanish and English, including press releases, blog posts, web site content, video, infographics and other products designed engage US Hispanic audiences.
  3. Posts content on web site and blog, and manages the online-Spanish language constituent engagement platform (Convio).
  4. Analyzes trends in the Hispanic digital/social media platforms (such as Twitter, Facebook, Webpages), and suggest strategies and tactics for engagement.
  5. Produces or works with external producer to edit WWF’s short videos in Spanish, create or adapt graphics, photo galleries and other visuals, and create content for radio.
  6. Identifies conferences, summits, events targeted towards Hispanic media and the Latino community that could be linked to conservation/ environmental issues.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required in journalism, communications or related field
  • Four years of relevant experience is required. Experience in communicating environmental or conservation issues preferred.
  • Professional-level Spanish Proficiency required; strong preference for fluency
  • Ability to proactively work with media.
  • Experience with using Convio, Vocus, Meltwater or other communications and advocacy software is preferred.
  • Experience with using different web content management systems and writing content for websites.
  • Able to develop, and apply communications tools and methods appropriately to the situation and job assignment.
  • Highly organized and able to prioritize effectively; able to coordinate several projects at one time with high level of accuracy under time constraints, tight deadlines and with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical, and editing skills.
  • Experience managing social media / on-line channels.
  • Creativity skills and experience working with audiovisual materials.
  • Familiarity with PC and Macintosh software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Adobe Creative Suite, and Video editing software.
