Description

In recent years there has been close scrutiny of the legislation afforded to European Protected Species (which includes all UK bat species). National and European reviews have both found the legislation to be fit for purpose but have concluded that the implementation could be improved. Now, as the UK negotiates its exit from the European Union (EU) we are entering a period of uncertainty about the future of legislation emanating from the EU. BCT is working hard to ensure the legislation that protects bats and their habitats is not weakened during this process. A central part of BCT’s campaign is to mobilise political support to influence government decisions about the UK’s post-Brexit environmental policy and legislation.

We are seeking someone with knowledge of species legislation and policy, an awareness of the workings of Government and Government Departments and experience in influencing issues politically at a high level in Government.

If you have the passion and experience to join our team and help us secure a future for bats and the habitats that support them and wider biodiversity, please view the job description and person specification below.
