The Role
Sitting within the Climate Change, Water and Environment team and reporting to the Principal Business Improvement, the primary role of the Specialist Sustainable Development is to manage and facilitate the Rio Tinto Iron Ore sustainable development assessment process within Expansion Projects from order of magnitude through to project implementation.
The role will also work with the Climate Change, Water and Environment team and other stakeholders within Rio Tinto Iron Ore and Rio Tinto to develop and embed a sustainable development strategic framework within the Iron Ore business.
The Specialist Sustainable Development will be responsible for, but not limited to:
The successful candidate will be tertiary qualified in a relevant technical or business discipline with a minor or post-graduate qualification in sustainable development and have extensive knowledge and demonstrated application of sustainable development theory and principles within mining or heavy industry. A strategic focus with previous project management experience, strong facilitation and influencing skills will see the successful candidate flourish in this role.
