MJ042  Specialist Environmental Control    

Section: SHELocation: LimpopoSalary Range: R 517 788.00

Required Qualifications and Experience:·         Advanced Certificate in mine Environmental Control·         Diploma in Mine Environmental control or degree in Occupational Hygiene·         5 years practical experience including service in the ventilation and occupational hygiene fields at an underground coal mine·         Experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of management systems and database formulation·         Legal requirements: Chamber of Mines (COM) Certificate in Mine Environmental Control·         Member of Mine Ventilation Society of South Africa·         Extensive knowledge of occupational health and hygiene legislation, knowledge of hazard assessment and risk management, advanced knowledge of Occupational Health System (OHAS 18001) and Occupational Health Management·         Advanced computer literacy: reporting systems (Pivot), SAP and MS Office·         Facilitation, influencing and mentoring skills, planning, project management and writing / research skills, good communication and team dynamics skills, own initiative and innovative, analytical and the ability to do advanced calculations 

Key responsibilities:·         Ensure that environment conditions are designed to be safe and a system for monitoring is in place – Act 50 of 1991 Reg 2.16, including ventilation and occupational hygiene engineering systems·         Establish system to understand and mitigate occupational hygiene and ergonomic hazards MHSA Sect 12·         Audit individual shafts to ensure compliance to Mine Health & Safety Act, group guidelines and mine standards·         Ventilation engineering design model-up and reviews of design at the shaft to ensure appropriate working conditions at the mining faces / operational areas·         Design, implement and manage total effective long term ventilation / occupational hygiene strategies and systems·         Responsible for long term LOM ventilation planning (in access of 5 years)·         Liaison with medical staff regarding state of working conditions on the operation·         Manage the whole ventilation and occupational hygiene department including lamp room and change houses Only suitable qualified candidates should apply, please email your CV in MS Word along with a letter of motivation relevant to the position to megon@caenviro.co.za
