Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join Land Stewardship to use your skills as a forest planner, collaborator and advisor to support the development and delivery of strategies, guidance, plans and programmes on the Natural Resources Wales (NRW) land estate: 156kha or 7% of Wales, 40% of Wales woodland, 56 (23k ha of) National Nature Reserves (NNR). You will use your knowledge and experience to ensure compliance with the UK Forest Standard (UKFS) and UK Woodland Assurance Standard (UKWAS).

You will be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of the following: 

  • Professional membership or working towards professional membership of the Institute of Chartered Foresters or another relevant professional body within an agreed timescale.
    • Knowledge of: Welsh, UK and EU legislation related to Sustainable Forest Management and Planning.  Welsh, UK Government policy drivers in Forestry; and the issues and opportunities in Wales.
    • Experience of: technical analysis and interpretation of  a range of complex environmental information and data sources; and analysing large data sets.
    • Working with/in the forestry sector, local authorities, eNGOs, National Parks and other land managers.
    • Working in a programme and project management environment with Project Management experience and/or qualifications.
    • Share your knowledge and expertise to help solve problems, supporting all Heads of Business in EPP as required.
