The Nature Conservancy in Alaska (http://nature.org/Alaska) seeks an applied scientist with expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and a background in salmon biology and management, freshwater ecology, hydrology, watershed analysis, ecological risk assessment, remote sensing or a related field, to support planning and decision-making for conservation of wild salmon ecosystems in Alaska. This position requires a blend of technical science expertise, exceptional writing skills and clear interpersonal communication.  The Alaska Chapter of The Nature Conservancy is currently engaged in 3 program areas: Southeast Alaska; the Matanuska-Susitna basin; and Bristol Bay.  Specific objectives for this position include: (1) spatial analysis and applied research to improve understanding of ecological systems that support salmon; and (2) development and management of spatial datasets, GIS maps and analytical tools to inform conservation planning and decision-making.  This is a full-time position with benefits to be located in Anchorage, Alaska.
