The Southwest Program Manager located in NPCA’s Southwest Regional Office (SWRO) will, in coordination with the Regional Director, implement NPCA’s strategic priorities in the Southwest. SWRO is a diverse and complex region with many challenges. It is large, it has 74 national park units and it is diverse geographically, socially and economically. It is an important region with significant congressional leaders who have great influence in our park protection work.

The Southwest Program Manager will serve as the key point of contact along with the Regional Director for NPCA work in the southwest. Under the direction of the Regional Director, the Southwest Program Manager will coordinate and implement regional and national program goals including park funding and specific park protection advocacy with existing program initiatives and actions necessary to address immediate and emerging threats in Utah and as appropriate, within the region. The Southwest Program Manager will build an in-state presence with elected and community leaders, NPCA members, donors, and allied groups to promote NPCA priority objectives. This requires an ability to develop strong and valued relationships with national park staff, congressional and senate staff and members, local and state elected officials, media and opinion leaders. Program managers will be expected to work closely with allied groups on campaigns that draw attention to park threats and be able to effectively advocate for policy and/or legal action.
