The Council seeks to hire an organizer to raise awareness about air quality and public health issues in southwest Pennsylvania. The organizer will be mainly responsible for raising the profile of the air pollution and health impacts of shale gas infrastructure at the local and state level and mobilizing public support for strong air pollution leak standards for the gas industry. The outreach coordinator will report directly to the Community Outreach Director. Supervision and guidance will be provided, but the organizer should be self-motivated.

Protect our Children Organizer
Location: Penn/Trafford Township, Westmoreland/Allegheny Counties, PA Schedule: Full time or part-time (20 hours/week) for approximately 1 year, with the potential to extend the contract Application deadline: Post will be closed when filled.

The organizer will report directly to the Community Outreach Director, and will be evaluated by a subset of the Protect our Children Steering Committee.
Responsibilities
? Educate parents and school officials about the health impacts of natural gas infrastructure through presentations and educational materials.
? Organize skills trainings for parent leaders on topics of traditional media and social media.
? Engage residents in planning campaigns and influencing the outcomes of proposed gas infrastructure projects in their neighborhood.
