ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Nature Conservancy’s Latin American Region is looking for a high-energy individual who is able to work effectively with others in a decentralized and geographically dispersed organization. The Southern Andes Finance and Operations Manager will be based in Santiago, Chile, and provides overall direction/leadership for all activities related to finance, administration, personnel, facilities, information systems, office management and/or safety throughout the region.  S/he will lead a team of six professionals located across the ecoregion including Chile, Argentina, Peru, and Bolivia. S/he is responsible for development and implementation of annual budgets and manages the processes for annual planning, submission of periodic and annual financial and technical reports and monitoring progress of goals. This will include oversight/leadership for central administrative processes, maintaining office supplies, general purchasing requests, and general office duties. S/he may be responsible for developing operational guidelines to ensure efficient management of the program and compliance with regulations.  S/he may oversee the coordination of trainings/meetings and document activities, strategies and lessons learned as appropriate.  S/he provides assistance to all levels of personnel on various HR-related issues and guidance to subordinates in satisfying administrative requirements. Duties are highly confidential and require broad and comprehensive knowledge of TNC’s policies.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree (Accounting, Administration or Economics) and 7 years related experience or equivalent combination.
• Fluent in English and Spanish.
• Strong track record overseeing all activities related to finance, accounting, administration, personnel, facilities, information systems, office management and/or safety for a business unit, department, or equivalent
• Experience using MS office, Word, and Excel. Experience manipulating, analyzing and/or interpreting financial or other data.
• Experience in designing, implementing and directing multiple projects with business unit- or department-wide scope.
• Supervisory experience managing a multi-disciplinary team of administrative and professional staff. 
• Experience developing and administering departmental budget of over $3M, including experience in financial analysis.
ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
• Bachelor’s degree and 7-10 years financial, accounting, and operations experience or equivalent combination.  Master’s degree or CPA would be beneficial.
• Successful experience in developing, directing and managing multiple projects and implementing strategic program goals.
• Supervisory experience, including ability to motivate, lead, set objectives, and manage performance, including conflict resolution.
• Demonstrated experience in MS Office, Word, and Excel.  May require database management skills with ability to produce reports.  Ability to use advanced computer functions including navigating the Internet.  Ability to manipulate, analyze and interpret data.
• Working knowledge of current trends in relevant discipline.
• Demonstrated flexibility to changing situations and priorities.
• Service oriented.  Courteous, personable, tactful and experience dealing effectively and sensitively with all levels of staff and public.
• Fluent in Spanish and English.

COMPLEXITY/PROBLEM SOLVING:
• Design, implement and direct multiple projects with several variables, setting and meeting deadlines and ensuring program accountability.
• Resolves complex issues independently within program area.  Experiments to find creative solutions.

RESPONSIBILITY/OVERSIGHT – FINANCIAL & SUPERVISORY:
• Manage multi-disciplinary administrative and professional staff, with responsibility for performance management, training, and career development.  Establishes clear directions and sets stretch objectives.
• Develops and administers departmental budget.
• Extensive experience in financial analysis may be preferred or required.
• Ensures that program complies with TNC polices and procedures and external (donor/legal) requirements.

• Work with and communicate effectively with a wide range of people, including employees, the public, vendors, and people with different cultural backgrounds in order to develop, negotiate, and or implement programs and projects.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:
• Work requires only minor physical exertion and/or strain.  Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment and manage deadlines. 
• Willingness to travel and work flexible hours.
