We seek a Southeast Campus Field Coordinator to join the Campus Ecology program in promoting climate leadership and sustainability among colleges and universities. Major goals include reducing greenhouse gas emission, advancing sustainability goals on college campuses, developing and supporting green jobs training programs at community colleges, and engaging college students in climate and sustainability issues at all levels. The Campus Ecology program provides resources and technical support, creates networking opportunities and organizes educational events to support these goals. The Southeast Campus Field Coordinator will be responsible for implementing the Campus Ecology's program in at least two regional climate action networks in the Southeast. The coordinator will launch and support regional campus climate action networks and document his or her development and effectiveness. The Coordinator will form partnerships with campuses willing to lead and convene these networks and help plan and organize summits, providing training and technical assistance on conducting greenhouse gas emission inventories, creating campus climate action plans, and other strategies for reducing emissions.

The Field Coordinator will serve as the NWF regional lead for the Greenforce Initiative in the Southeast (currently North Carolina). This entails developing and maintaining contacts with Community College leaders at all levels; maintaining a working knowledge of the emerging green economic development and workforce needs in the region as well as potential employers. The Field Coordinator will organize regional meetings and provide technical support to community college leaders and support their efforts to advance sustainable skills training.

He or she will also lead outreach to student environmental leaders in the region and engage them in NWF conservation campaigns, particularly in the areas of climate and energy, in coordination with NWF’s conservation staff. Other partner organizations include Energy Action Coalition, the United Negro College fund, and Southern Energy Network. This involves outreach to campuses to identify and cultivate student leaders and providing training and support for student leadership as time and funding are available. The Campus Field Coordinator will be responsible for providing regular updates and reports on the progress of the different campus initiatives and for reporting to funders and meeting with regional funders and help develop regional financial support for programs in the region. This position will include outreach to diverse, traditionally under-served campus groups, ensuring that campuses are recruited and supported from these communities each year. Funding for this position is approved for 1 year with the potential for possible renewal.
