Overview

The World Resources Institute is seeking a full time Partnership Manager based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia or Singapore for Global Forest Watch 2.0 (GFW2.0), a new interactive, online forest monitoring system that unites satellite imagery, cloud computing, and crowd-sourced data to create never-before-possible transparency in forests around the world. The Manager will be responsible for leading GFW’s engagement with major stakeholders in Malaysia, Singapore and Papua New Guinea including the government, private sector and civil society. The position will report to the GFW2.0 Senior Manager in Washington DC and will be part of a larger international team based in Washington, D.C. seeking to cultivate the GFW2.0 platform and support its use by governments, businesses, civil society organizations, and communities around the world. Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead the engagement of major stakeholders (government, private sector, civil society) in Malaysia, Singapore, and Papua New Guinea who are existing and potential users of the GFW2.0 system;
  • Represent the initiative to partners and stakeholders in the three countries;
  • Work closely with GFW2.0’s existing partners to identify and pilot applications of the GFW2.0 system for crowd-sourcing or community monitoring;
  • Lead the implementation of GFW’s small-grants program to civil society in the three countries;
  • Identify and advance new lines of research and analysis relevant to the initiative’s strategy;
  • Produce, review, and edit communications materials, and other written outputs consistent with WRI’s high standard of quality;
  • Support fundraising activities and other duties.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in international relations, environmental studies or other relevant field. Other academic disciplines may be suitable depending on work experience. Master's Degree preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of work experience;
  • Interest in or experience with environmental issues, especially forest issues;
  • Great analytical and strategic thinking skills;
  • Ability to write in an organized, clear, and articulate manner in English. Additional written and oral fluency in Mandarin, Bahasa Malaysia, or Bahasa Indonesia are a plus;
  • Communicate clearly and compellingly to a wide range of audiences;
  • Results focused, with a strong team orientation, and the ability to work well under pressure;
  • Commitment to WRI’s mission and institutional values;
  • Open only to applicants who have existing work authorization in Malaysia and/or Singapore.

Salary and benefits
