Description
IUCN Regional Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia (ECARO) is seeking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic candidate to join the IUCN ECARO team as SOS Central Asia Officer.
SOS - Save Our Species is an IUCN initiative intended to be a long-term global programme to improve the conservation status of globally threatened species, their habitats and the people depending on them. It provides grants for conservation of globally threatened species. By strategically focusing on species conservation priorities identified by the IUCN Species Survival Commission (SSC) and by providing rapid action funding that can be mobilized quickly during crises, SOS provides critically-needed resources where and when they matter most.
The primary tasks of the SOS Central Asia Officer will be to develop and manage a grant programme for species conservation under the SOS Central Asia project. Other tasks will include priority setting for species conservation, donor and partner relationship, and liaison with IUCN Programmes, Members, Commissions, and partners.
The successful candidate will work in close cooperation with the IUCN ECARO Director and the IUCN Species Conservation Grants Coordinator, and will be responsible for the management of the SOS Central Asia project under the Programme Area Valuing and Conserving Nature in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
