Description

Title: Solar Homes Program Coordinator

Department: Office of Advancement

Reports To: Director of Clean Tech Outreach

Context: This position will support the Solar Homes Program, a cause-related marketing effort that raises money for Sierra Club and Sierra Club Chapters through the direct promotion and sale of rooftop solar products to Sierra Club members and supporters.

Scope: The Solar Homes Coordinator performs a variety of functions such as maintaining communication with Chapters and partner companies; developing marketing materials; creating and providing tools, templates and best practices to Chapters; setting up tracking and reporting systems; preparing monthly progress reports; working with other capacities at the Sierra Club, such as online organizing, membership, and communications; and working with outside vendors.

Job Activities:

1. Answers questions from participating entities (state Chapters, Sierra Club capacities and departments, outside vendors, and partnering solar companies) and coordinates communications between different parties for the national promotion of rooftop solar to Sierra Club members and supporters.

2. Provides support to Chapter leaders, acting as main point of contact with National Sierra Club throughout the Solar Homes Program.

3. Works with Sierra Club’s Online Organizing team to create an email schedule and drafts emails to members and supporters.

4. Provides information to and assists the Membership Services team in responding to inquiries about the Solar Homes Program.

5. Works with our solar partners to develop messages and marketing materials, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate on tactics, track data, and improve outreach.

6. Develops toolkit for Chapters with fact sheets, sample emails, house party instructions, and other marketing templates to support their promotion of the Solar Homes Program.

7. Develops systems to track and report on progress of the Solar Homes Program in participating states. Periodically creates progress reports, runs income projections, and develops presentations for Club leadership.

8. Responds to, screens, or directs calls and requests from Chapters, solar partners, and sometimes the public. Handles inquiries related to sensitive or confidential matters.

9. Tracks and manages lead and referral sources, keeps detailed records of how and where new leads and sales are generated, tracks which tactics and marketing channels works best, and recommends course correction based on performance analysis.

10. Performs miscellaneous duties as directed.

Knowledge and Skills:

-- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

-- 1-2 years of general office experience with experience in entering, maintaining and reporting business data.

-- Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate multiple tasks or activities at once.

-- Strong analytical skills and ability to diligently track and quantify program results.

-- Proficient in Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

-- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, to use tact and diplomacy in dealing with confidential and sensitive matters, and ability to work with diverse groups of people.

-- Organizing and/or Marketing experience preferred.

-- Familiarity with solar energy, particularly residential solar, is a plus.


This position is represented by a collective bargaining unit and is subject to the terms and conditions of the contract between Sierra Club and Sierra Employee Alliance.
