The Solar Development Executive is a Graduate with a Degree in an Engineering, Science or a related field. The candidate will be a member of the Mainstream Dublin team and will be responsible for supporting development activities in our global solar project development business including market analysis, site identification, detailed site design and solar technology evaluation.

Purpose of the Job:

  • Support the Solar New Business team in the screening of global solar opportunities.
  • Assist international solar development teams in the development of projects from early site identification through energy assessment, environmental permitting and preliminary engineering to a build- ready stage.
  • Develop standardized procedures for various stages of solar project development to ensure consistency of approach across all regions.

Key Responsibilities:

Support the Solar Development Manager in the following:

  • Screening of future solar markets and presenting market entry analysis for attractive opportunities
  • Provide development support for current solar development activities in international markets:
    • GIS cartography
    • site screening
    • creating buildable areas
    • creating preliminary solar layouts
    •  communicating with the energy analysis, technical service and corporate finance team
  • Develop preliminary site engineering screening procedures with the technical services team
  • Further develop Health & Safety procedures for solar projects with the SHEQ team
  • Maintain a database of global solar projects in development, construction and operation including transaction information
  • Carry out a continuous technical comparison of various PV module and inverter technologies and configurations in particular focussing on their operation in conditions typical in markets in which Mainstream is active
  • Further develop the internal Mainstream Solar webpage

Key Skills, Knowledge and Experience

The candidate will have a minimum of a Degree in an Engineering, Science or a related field. The candidate will have the following key skills:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • The ability to work in a team with colleagues and external consultants
  • Strong initiative and the ability to proactively identify required tasks
  • Ability to understand technical material and communicate technical information to non-technical audiences
  • Proficiency in design and cartography software such as AutoCad, ArcView and Global Mapper
  • Excellent IT skills and experience with MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Sharepoint
  • A willingness to travel and permanently relocate following an initial period based in Dublin
  • Fluent English and preferably additional languages
