Description

The African Wildlife Foundation (AWF), an international conservation organization, urgently seeks a Socio Anthropologist for the new Gestion et Exploitation Durable et Innovante des Ressources Forestières (GEDIRF) program. The project’s goals are the reduction of poverty and habitat destruction through innovative and participatory land use planning and SMFEs development, in preparation of potential arrival of the forestry sector. Understanding the perception of different local communities on questions related to user rights is key. Finally, it will be key to facilitate effective communication with and coordination between these local communities and local authorities, the private sector, and especially the logging company SIFORCO. This project is to be implemented in the Maringa Lopori Wamba (MLW) landscape in Equateur Province, Democratic Republic of Congo and runs for two years through to December 2011. The successful candidate will be based in - Bongandanga and will report to the Project Officer, GEDIRF.
