Supervisor: Site Operations Manager

Description: The Site Operations Technician will support the Site Operations Manager with the day to day running of the Cedar Wind Farm, located near Limon, CO. This position will also act as the backup for the Site Manger during the Manager’s absence.

1-2 year temporary position with salary and benefits.

Responsibilities:

1. Support the Operations Manager in achieving the strategic plans and objectives relating to the generation assets of the Cedar Point Wind Farm.
2. Support the safe and reliable operation and maintenance of the company assets.
3. Assist the Site Manager in the ongoing investigation and analysis of asset performance, identifying opportunities to reduce downtime and maximize generation.
4. Assist with producing routine O&M reports.
5. Assist the Site Operations Manager with the checking of invoices and advising the Asset Manager of short to medium term forecasted costs and changes in spend against budget.
6. Support the Site Operations Manager with the management of operational aspects of power purchase agreements.
7. Responsible for supporting on-site safety, security and environmental management and compliance.
8. Participate in regular weekly site safety meetings.
9. Provide regular and on time reporting on safety and environmental issues to Site Operations Manager/head office.
10. Participate in and complete site audits and inspections for safety and operation.
11. Participate in the completion of annual sub-contractor safety audits.
12. Assist in the Management of on site subcontracts.
13. Daily monitoring and analyze of the performance of the site.
14. Assist Site Operations Manager working with construction teams during final phases of construction to takeover and ensure close out of any outstanding construction issues during subsequent operation.
15. On call on a 24/7 basis to occasionally respond to urgent operational issues.
16. Back up to Site Operations Manager to supervise timely park restarts after plant outages / trips.
17. Work with the Site Operations Manager when working with XCEL and PSCo as required.
18. Work with maintenance contractors to ensure their safe and timely intervention to attend to observed faults and trips.
19. Oversee work on site by contractors, including turbine maintenance, crane activities, electrical HV and civil works.
20. Support Site Operations Manager with schedule and co-ordination of non-routine plant maintenance and upgrades.
21. Communicate with client, landowner, community, local authority and other stakeholders when necessary.
22. Attend regular meetings with turbine and HV contractors to discuss all O&M issues.
23. Assist Site Operations Manager with co-ordination of scheduled and unscheduled grid outages.
24. Assist Site Operations manager with tracking of failures, alarms, downtime, maintenance and repairs, plant status and trends, and HSQE issues.
25. Assist with upkeep of databases of faults and maintenance/performance issues.
26. Support the Site Operations Manager when alerting the Asset Manager and Turbine Engineer of emerging faults and issues and maintenance or retrofits as required.
27. Participate with the Site Operations Manager when working with OEMs and engineering teams in respect of Defect Notifications and non-warranty investigations.
28. Assist Site Operations Manager to review statistical analysis and evaluation of asset performance/status.
29. Work closely with the Site Operations manager in progressing the investigation of plant failures and shortfalls.
30. Identification and appraisal of plant improvement opportunities.
31. A variety of administrative tasks to support the Site Operations manager and any other tasks as directed by Site Operations Manager or the Vice President of Operations.

Requirements:

1. Minimum one to three years of proven industrial experience includes working with O&M contractors. Wind farm, utility OR mechanical experience required. A renewable energy background is a plus.
2. High Voltage training and previous switching experience desirable.
3. Expertise and the necessary skills to interface with the public and landowners.
4. Assisting the Site Operations Manager in ensuring on time O&M and cost effective running of the plant.
5. Valid driver license. A Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check is required as part of background investigation.
6. Skilled in MSOffice, Outlook, and Excel.
7. Ability to climb wind turbine towers.

Education: High school diploma, mechanical or electrical technical degree or equivalent experience.  BS or degree level education in electrical or mechanical engineering preferred but not required.
