Site Managers (SM) provide overall project site direction to single or multiple projects to main contractors and design team. Site manager’s main role is to monitor and enforce that main contractor is following Vestas’ Safety Way Of Working, OSHA, as well as all local rules and regulations. SM’s must maintain liaison with prime client contacts, and coordinate their needs to contractors and design team. SM will assist in the monitoring of construction, schedule, and financial activities of on-site construction. In addition, the SM will assist Tooling (when necessary) in coordination of equipment install, and coordinate any work necessary to assist Tooling. SM’s will coordinate and review project priorities with the Project Manager. SM’s are responsible for completing each project safely, on-time, within budget, with customer satisfaction as the highest priority next to safety. SM’s will report to the Project Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee, monitor and enforce all aspects of safety on the construction site. Ensuring that contractors comply with the Vestas Building Department Safety Way of Working, as well as all federal and local laws and regulations.
  • Inspects onsite contractors to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure safety measures have been implemented.
  • Manage a construction site from start to completion, starting with the early idea phase and ending with the hand-over and the subsequent warranties. This takes place in close cooperation with the Project Manager, prime client contacts, as well as other Vestas departments.
  • Analyze project to determine scope, schedule requirements, and effectively be able to bring in projects within budget and on schedule, and safely.
  • Resolve ad hoc tasks, e.g. the establishment of a building concept or a task related to Layout, to coordination of Tooling’s needs/requirements.
  • Participate in analyzing and preparing suggested solutions, and to identify and prioritize the building project solutions with the greatest benefits.
  • Aid in the preparation of the guidelines for building factory facilities and other facilities.
  • Prepare requirement specifications regarding building tasks
  • Provide support to other departments, e.g. handling data regarding building and sites, preparing budget figures for smaller building tasks, evaluate existing conditions regarding fire risks, assisting in furniture layout, etc.
  • Participate in the optimization of existing building projects.
  • Review over main contractors’ and advisors’ daily logs, safety reports, quality logs, and inspection reports.
  • Promote Vestas and maintain a good working relationship with contractors, architects and designers, suppliers and manufacturers, and other Vestas personnel.
  • Coordinate with BU Tooling site manager and main contractor for safety requirements, access, scheduling installations to fit into overall construction timeline.
  • Inspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • And all other duties as assigned by PM or Director.

Travel

Candidates must be willing to travel. Candidates may also be assigned projects outside of the United States of America that require extended periods of stay. Passports are required. Candidates must be willing to be able to travel overseas with very minimal notice.

 

Education/Experience

Bachelors Degree with a major in Construction Management and or relevant field or the equivalent combination of education and related construction experience. Canidates with 5 years of experience are preferred, but is not required. Experience to be evaluated on and individual basis by the local Director. OSHA 10 Hour Construction Training is required. First Aid/CPR training is preferred but is not required.

 

Language Ability

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

Math Ability

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

 

Computer Skills

Basic skills in Microsoft Office, Adobe, CA Ram/Engineering and Finance/Accounting Programs.
