Short-term NGO Capacity Building Consultancy (with travel to Haiti)

BirdLife International, the largest partnership of conservation NGOs in the world and Société Audubon Haïti (BirdLife project partner in Haiti), are looking for an experienced individual whose main task will be to support and strengthen the Rézo-Ekolo network of NGOs in Haiti during the critical set-up phase of a broader project entitled "Post-earthquake support for the environmental civil society sector in Haiti".

The emphasis will be on support over a 4-month period (approx. 2 days per month starting October 2010), drafting terms of reference for consultancies, assisting with staff recruitment, and ensuring close collaboration among Rézo-Ekolo members.

The person will be supported by the BirdLife Americas Secretariat and Caribbean Program, and will work with Société Audubon Haïti whilst in Haiti. The consultancy will require a period of 4-5 days based in Port-au-Prince, Haiti (unless already based there) during November 2010. 

Qualifications and skills: Appropriate university degree(s); 5-10 years of proven experience in NGO/ civil society capacity building and network development; proven facilitation skills; expertise in executive-level staff recruitment; fluency in English, French and ideally Haitian Creole; knowledge of the environmental NGO sector in Haiti.

Contract period: Nine days during the period October 2010 - January 2011
