ARD, Inc. (http://www.ardinc.com) is accepting expressions of interest from qualified Legislative Advisors candidates for the Creating an Enabling Policy Environment in Sierra Leone (CEPESL) project. The Legal Expert is responsible for coordinating with CEPESL stakeholders to draft the new Forestry Policy. Responsibilities:
The Legal Expert’s responsibilities are as follows:
- Develop a list of stakeholders that need to be consulted to draft the new Forestry Policy
- Review all of the background documents used by the Advisory Committee (AC)
- Review the outline of key elements identified by the AC to be addressed in the new policy
- Prepare a full draft of the new forestry policy
- Gather feedback from CEPESL, the AC, and other stakeholders to include feedback in the final draft
- Produce a final draft policy
Candidates must meet the following qualifications:
-- Masters degree or equivalent in Forestry Management, Forestry Policy Development, Natural Resource Management, Biodiversity Management or related fields
-- At least 8 years of practical experience in Forestry Management, Forestry Policy development, design of Forestry Strategies, Conservation/Protected Area Management, and/or Biodiversity Management
-- Specific experience and understanding of commercial forestry management, community forestry management, conservation forestry management, land tenure systems, and/or biodiversity management in Anglophone Africa are preferred
-- Experience in drafting NRM/forestry policies and/or biodiversity/wildlife policies
-- Experiences in Forestry Management contexts of Sierra Leone and/or Liberia will be a plus
-- This assignment will be carried out in English; the candidate should have strong writing and communication skills in English
